We have had a very successful year. This has been very special to the team members, but also the coaches and parents.

4/23/2012 Moms Night Out @ The Putnam(

We presented our robot with another local school during this very cool event. It was a great time to practice our changes to our robot and gave us some valuable feedback before heading to Florida.

STEM Education comes home with the 2nd Annual Moms Night out for STEM!

The Putnam Museum will once again host Moms Night Out (MNO) for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) on Monday, April 23, 2012. Mom’s Night Out is a satellite event of the USA Science and Engineering Festival, held in Washington D.C. The brainstorm of the Iowa Mathematics and Science Education Partnership (IMSEP) and Iowa State University, MNO targets caregivers, especially moms, by providing resources that make STEM education exciting and accessible at home. According to Jeff Weld, Director of IMSEP, “Evidence continues to mount that point to moms (and dads) as key to the attitudes and decisions of youth when it comes to STEM careers."
Our event last year, occurred simultaneously with 21 other venues across the state of Iowa. We hosted the largest of the 22 and are very excited to be invited back for the second annual event!
Moms (dads and other caregivers) who attend this FREE night can expect a keynote speaker, hands-on activities, prizes and refreshments. In addition, take home information for parents to use with their children. Childcare will also be available for those who have pre-registered. Moms Night Out for STEM is for parents of children currently in the 3rd through 8th grade.

Engineering Night

The team presented to the Mayor and many big companies involved in engineering such as John Deere. This was a great learning opportunity for the students to promote their hardwork while performing in front of a big audience.

FLL Iowa State Competition

This award knocked our socks off. We were really not expecting such a huge award. We cannot even put into words how proud and happy we were to earn this award.

FLL Regional Tournament

We were beyond thrilled to see our name at the top of the leaderboard. Some of our members are brand new to FLL and young and others have been through the process for many years. For the veterans this was a huge milestone for them to have a well equipped robot. This was a shining moment for our robot and our team who put a lot of time into the programming to make magic happen. The robot has never been the cornerstone of this team and it was great to finally earn recognition for our robot.

School Board Presentation

We presented to our school board so we could not only practice our live speaking, but to also showcase all of our hardwork.
